Speaker: Maria Katherine Guano
Everyone loves Maria Katherine Guano or simply MK! But who wouldn’t anyway? A missionary by heart, she was an SFC full-time worker in South Africa for two years. Now she’s back in Manila serving as a Unit Head in our Chapter while also tasked to head the SFC International Missions.
If you think this lady will crack under pressure with all the voluminous tasks at her hands, well, think again! She inspires so many people with how she serves God with a cheerful heart. With her sweet smile she generously gives to everyone, you’d barely notice any pressure from her at all. Her laughter is so contagious that there’s never a dull moment with her.
But what truly makes her stand out is her great love for God. She would not think twice in going places to proclaim God’s word to others, no matter how difficult the journey may be. And this makes her beautiful inside out. Truly she lives up to her “Indonesian” name Ayu, meaning beautiful.
Sharer: Richard Cordero
Hi all! We had such a great session at the last talk and lets keep our fire for the Lord burning by learning more about how to grow in the holy spirit. Now that you have received the Holy Spirit, what’s next? Some reminders, our next session shall be tomorrow THURSDAY (Aug. 20) 7pm at Sanctuario de San Antonio at Mckinley, Forbes. See you There!
Our speaker will Elmer Guerzon.
Elmer’s journey in the community has fascinated a lot of people. He became SFC in 1998 (one of the first batch of CLP for SFC Makati) from his YFC stint in DLSU. But his desire to pursue a career as a lawyer had his community life took a back seat but only for a few years. In 2004, Elmer came back to community and there was no stopping him since. He has matured from a simple member, to a household head, to CLP team leader, to unit head. Even after getting married, he still actively serves as a household head for SFC.
His simple ways exude wisdom. His laughter exudes compassion. His words impart knowledge. He can crack a joke yet be really serious about life. He is a lawyer by profession and a Christian at heart. Hard as you may imagine to be a Christian in his profession, he masters the craft just the same. A true Christian lawyer moved by the belief that his career is one of God’s many blessings.
A dear friend to many. A tatay to some. An example and inspiration to others. A loving and caring husband. Elmer is all these, and more!
Our sharer will be Mike Aguirre.
Mike is referred to as the logo. It is because he embodies the essence of SFC. A full time worker for SFC, he shares his talen by producing awesome AVP’s for conferences and other community events.Being born on November 1st seems to be a sign that his life is going to be saintly. A word of caution, don’t be mislead by this payatot. This guy can smash his way thru and Olympic medal in badminton, be the MVP of FIBA. Physical Prowess aside, his strength is evident in his discipline – especially in keeping his early morning prayer time and fasting. Truly, everything this dude does is for the Glory of God!
The Sacrament of Reconciliation or Confession is one of the most beautiful gifts we have received as Catholics. Through this, our sins are forgiven and we are reunited with Christ. In preparation for Talk 9 this coming Friday, we strongly encourage everyone to go to confession in order to fully receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Here is a helpful guide to confession:
We’re almost nearing the end of the Christian Life Program and we’ve come out with this list of talk outlines in order for the participants to look back and review the past talks. This is also helpful for those who missed certain talks. If participants have more questions please get in touch with your group facilitator or leave a remark on this blog.
God bless!
Our Talk 9: Receiving the Power of the Holy Spirit will be at the Makati Stock Exchange Building, 7pm. Our Speaker will be our SFC Makati Chapter Head, Taffy Ledesma.
Eduardo Ledesma III, or Taffy as he is fondly known, has always been a leader. Being the firstborn in the family, he is known simply as Manong to his siblings. In school, he was always a visible figure on campus, being part of his school’s Student Council and one of the leaders in his political party. His leadership abilities have served him well in his career, successfully managing several well-known consumer brands to become market leaders. To add to all these, he continues to faithfully serve his SFC family, being a member of the SFC Council, heading his chapter in Makati, spearheading his sector’s Prison Ministry involvement, and leading mission trips both here and abroad. An avid photographer, gourmand and health buff, he truly exemplifies someone who lives life to the fullest.
Despite all the titles and accolades, he remains a simple, down-to-earth guy. Beneath his cool, calm exterior lies a heart totally given to God. Always ready to give without counting the costs, humble in his ways and passionate in his actions, he mirrors Jesus Christ to all who meet him, the example of a true Christian servant leader.
Here’s how to get to Makati Stock Exchange:
From last week’s talk 7 on The Christian family.
Talk 8 will be in Penthouse, Makati Stock Exchange. Session will start at 7pm. Hope to see you there.
Josef Poe – a leader, a brother and God’s humble servant.
Josef is a very dear friend in the community; he carries funny stories of himself as he shares his life to many. We call him the “life of a party†as he loves spending quality time with his family and friends- sharing with them his passion for music, sports, a little bit of dancing, and most of all his love for our God.
His journey in Singles for Christ started in mid-2005, the year when he committed his all to our God. Since then he has been actively serving the community through the Household, Music Ministry, Prison Ministry, GK, SFC Chorale & SFC Band; he travels on mission to both local and international places to share God’s glory and victory in his life; and stays committed to living a life for our God.
True to his Indonesian name “Rahmatâ€, Josef is a blessing.
VJ Posadas
At first, VJ would seem like just any normal guy: busiest at work, happiest with close friends and family, likes to eat, loves to sleep, fond of facebook. A lot of people would consider him quite successful, being a consultant in Development Dimensions Intl. and co-owner of a hot Ilonggo restaurant in Greenhills. Get to know him a little more though and you’ll see that when he’s not busy raking in those new accounts and managing his restaurant, he also spends a lot of his time serving as a Unit Head in SFC Makati Chapter.
Interestingly, when he graduated from his CLP in 2005, he probably didn’t think he would be where he is now in the community. You see, VJ is one who will never consider himself “biboâ€, and prefers to serve quietly and anonymously. He’s quite shy that way. But bibo or not, God has always called him.. and being a true servant of the Lord, he has always responded. Ask him to share, do a talk, lead a household – when really called to step up, he will in all likelihood say yes even if it means being in the limelight for a little while. In 2008 he even took that big leap and answered the call to go on mission and serve our brothers and sisters abroad, in Africa no less! And so by no conscious effort to be recognized – only through his quiet strength and great faith – has he gone from being a member to household head, to Unit Head and missionary. Not so anonymous anymore; definitely not just any other guy after all.
*Just in case you are curious to know which restaurant in Greenhills is his, check out that one place whose endorser looks a lot like him. Hint: that celeb’s name starts with an Alfred and ends with a Vargas 🙂
